The College of Nursing Sciences Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) played host to the Accreditation Team from the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) recently at the hospital’s Board Room.
While welcoming the team to the hospital, Dr. Ehi Eighemhenrio, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC), Acute and Critical Care (ACC), on behalf of the Chief Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer Prof. Rueben A. Efiediyi, assured the team of great hospitality all through their stay in ISTH. He further stated that the CMD and the entire Management Team as well as staff of the hospital are very passionate towards the growth of the College of Nursing so as to produce highly competent Nurses that will impact the society positively. He used the opportunity to thank the provost, staff and lecturers at the school for their relentless efforts so far in taking the college to an enviable state. He however assured that the hospital and school are open to advise and constructive criticism where needed.
The leader of the team Alhaji Dahiru A. Hunkuyi thanked the CMD and his Management Team for hosting them while looking forward to a positive outcome, stressing that NBTE does not deny schools accreditations but can only delay it where necessary in areas that might be lacking such as basic tools for operations while assuring the institution of their maximum support.
Also speaking, the South South Region Zonal Coordinator, NBTE Engr. Dr. Ngozi emphasized on including skills acquisitions programs in the students’ activities and curriculum while in school so that both knowledge and skills will be needed and useful even after getting their National Diploma (ND) certificate, which will earn them a dual certificate to stay better recognized and secured in the society.
High point of the visit was the inspection feedback which was highly commendable with some minor observations and suggestions which the Management promised to handle immediately.
Other NBTE team members present were: Alhaji Sherify Sanda, Mr. Aliyu Idris Abubakar and Mr. Godspower Eseh.

D.A., Dr. Adeleke Fajobi (Head, Internal Audit Department), Dr. Anthony Owolabi (Director, MERT), Mr. Charles Fabayo (Ag. Head, Accounts & Finance Department), Mrs. Stella Ighodalo (Director, General Administration/HMC Secretary).
Some staff from the College of Nursing present were: Mrs. Omoye Hilda Ovineriga (Registrar), Mr. Gideon Adeniji Ademisure (Bursar), Mrs. Mabel Isuekhebotor (Lecturer-DPA), Mrs. Felicia A. Eremen (Head, Basic Nursing Department), Mr. Babatunde Ajao (Lecturer-CSO) and members of staff of Public Relations and MERT Department.
