Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) has recorded a significant milestone with the successful delivery of its first Premium Baby under the hospital’s newly introduced Premium Service Platform. The baby, born to Mr. and Mrs. Philip Ikhide, weighed 3.5 kg and was delivered at 3:51 a.m. on July 21, marking the beginning of a new era in patient-centred maternity care at the hospital.

Speaking after the successful delivery, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Eifediyi congratulated the baby’s parents and warmly welcomed the newborn with the presentation of a teddy bear. She also congratulated the Chief Medical Director, Professor Reuben Agbons Eifediyi, and the hospital’s management for the successful implementation of the innovative Premium Service Platform.

Dr. Eifediyi explained that the initiative was established to make childbirth a pleasant, safe, and stress-free experience by providing world-class maternity care in a comfortable, serene, and family-friendly environment.

She further commended the doctors, nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals whose dedication, professionalism, and teamwork ensured the successful delivery, describing the occasion as a landmark achievement for the hospital.

Also speaking, Dr. Isoken Aikpopo applauded the hospital’s management for introducing the Premium Service Platform, noting that patients enjoy exceptional medical care, 24-hour professional attention, uninterrupted power supply, and services delivered with dignity, compassion, and respect.

The birth of ISTH’s first Premium Baby marks the beginning of a new chapter in maternal and child healthcare at the hospital. It reflects the institution’s unwavering commitment to innovation, excellence, and the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused healthcare services to the communities it serves.
