The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has described Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) as a “hub of excellence” in healthcare service delivery and disease control.
The commendation was made during a recent high-profile visit to the hospital, where the Minister was accompanied by distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. George Gao of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams-Oshiomole.
During the visit, Prof. Pate conducted a comprehensive tour of the hospital’s facilities and commissioned several key projects. These include the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Crescent, Ali Pate Way, the ISTH Viral Hemorrhagic Fever Clinical and Research Center, and the Clinical Trial Complex, among others.






The Minister commended the Management of ISTH, led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. R. A. Eifediyi, for their outstanding leadership and contributions to healthcare delivery, research, and disease control.
The visit was marked by a warm and colourful reception from staff, students, and the hospital’s cultural troupe, reflecting the institution’s vibrant community and commitment to excellence.
